At the 30th anniversary milestone (2014) of TED Talks, author Carmine Gallo published a book entitled “Talk Like TED: 9 Public Speaking Secrets of The World’s Best Minds. In a Forbes Magazine article Anne Fisher reported (2/252014) on how Gallo described some of the the TED Talk success formula from research he conducted on over 500 popular Talks that have captured our attention and imagination. Here’s are a few brief fascinating elements Gallo learned:

• Talks are limited to 18 minutes;
• Talks that ran longer than 18 minutes caused cognitive overload and increased anxiety and reduced the listener recall;
• Quoting Albert Einstein, Gallo said, “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.”
